Fleeing from Poverty – Sponsorship Programs at HelpAlliance
Sponsorships ensure education chances for children in Nigeria and Central India.
Because education is the key to overcoming poverty, HelpAlliance is now also offering sponsorships for the first time. For the time being, this is possible in two different projects.
The project Obizi in Nigeria supports a hospital and the construction of schools in the vicinity of the hospital. Two schools have been completed in the past two years.
For many children who would be capable to visit a secondary school, the path remains blocked because the families cannot cover the costs. This is where sponsorships are meant to help, to secure a better future for these children through higher education. Who knows, maybe one of them will return to the hospital in Obizi as a doctor one day.
More information on the project “Obizi” can be found here.
The Patenschaftskreis Indien (Sponsorship Circle India) has been a part of HelpAlliance for many years. In Central India so-called “Boardings” have been brought to life , which are often the only living and educational perspective for children of the very poor rural population. In about 35 of these Boardings the children receive food, clothing, medical care and schooling; all together this means a realistic chance to flee from poverty. The Sponsorship Circle takes care of arranging sponsorships, to accommodate children in the boardings who cannot be supported by their families. They frequently belong to ethnic minorities.
