Bao Lam - Vietnam

Family Help Project Bao Lam

Since January 2006, HelpAlliance has supported a Lufthansa Captain to improve living conditions for the children in Bao Lam.

The countryside in the province Bao Lam near Bao Loc, on the street between Ho-Chi-Minh City and Dalat is remarkable and romantic, but the daily struggle of the families living there is hard. The majority of the families migrated from the north to the Bao Lam region, to flee starvation. The region’s main resources are coffee and tea. Earning 1 US$ on a good day without rain, both parents have to work full time to be able to survive. As a consequence there are no larger family structures and the children are left alone. Basic needs of the children, like nutrition, care and education cannot be satisfied.

The donations from HelpAlliance guaranty nutrition, care and the required infrastructure. Two educators and one nurse take care of children from age 18 months to 5 years.
Since the beginning of the project, the construction of two new kindergarden buildings has been finished, Loc Than 11 and Dinh Trang Hoa. Additionally, the renovation of the kindergarden in Tan Thuong has been completed.

With donations from HelpAlliance and in Cooperation with the social workers of the Prajna Monastery, the project supports 4 kindergardens with about 120 children.
