Family Singers e.V.
Lusaka – Zambia

Since 2005 the organisation “Family Singers – Children Helping Children e.V.” has primarily supported AIDS orphans at the “Care for Kids” farm near Lusaka. The facility houses children who have lost their parents and gives them a chance to attend school and receive an education.
In the two classrooms at the farm’s own school, the children receive lessons in all subjects. The new children first learn English before they are introduced to other subjects. When the children are eight years old, they receive lessons pertaining to different activities on the farm. This includes mostly farming and everything that goes with it in addition to manual skills and home economics. The education also includes creative forms, music and sport.
The children grow up in a close family atmosphere so that the home is not much different than a regular home. The people in charge see their role largely as a parent, responsible for the children in all areas of their life. This means that they not only take care of the children, but also teach them essential things such as keeping their own room neat and tidy.
