HelpAlliance supported project

Kylemore - South Africa

“Lebenslinien e. V.” – supporting a community at the Cape

HelpAlliance has remedied the most urgent grievances in a day nursery at the Cape by making a contribution in order to ensure both loving care and acceptable learning and playing conditions for the children.

A registered charity called “Lebenslinien e. V.” was brought into being in the summer of 2005 to support South African children in need.
The association is pursuing a sustainable development plan involving different projects and actions to improve the conditions of life for children at the Cape.

One of the association’s projects includes providing food for about 600 school and nursery children daily. At this, the association attaches importance to healthy food, a carotene muffin for example, which contains all vitamins, minerals and trace elements needed by children in their growth.

In the course of this project the members of the association’s executive committee were getting to know better the living conditions in the coloured community of Kylemore and found the day nursery in a disastrous state.

The expenses caused by the renovation, however, exceeded the present financial resources of the association. This is why HelpAlliance now has come to assistance and is supporting “Lebenslinien e. V.” and the municipality of Kylemore by subsidizing the construction costs.

The extensive renovation measures were successfully brought to an end in December 2007. Seventy children between one and five years can now be taken loving care of by kindergarten teachers in a humanely environment.
